Living Questionably

Our big dream is that every single person who is part of our church family would commit to living questionably and giving questionably.

For every 100 people living in the Greater Lansing Area, there is 1 Rivite. We are, in a very real sense, the 1%. Surrounding us every single day are the 99%: coworkers, family, friends, classmates, neighbors, and more that need to hear about the liberating power of the Gospel of Jesus.

We are asking every person at Riv to commit to living questionably around their “99.” What does that mean? (It means living the kind of life that causes them to ask “why are you doing that?” or “who ARE you?” In those moments, we can tell them about Jesus, representing Jesus, loving like him, caring like him, and being generous like him.)

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ…” – Colossians 4:2-3

Pick the names of several people around you and begin to pray for open doors to share the Gospel with them. Then, continue in prayer, being watchful for opportunities for the Gospel.

Sit down with your calendar and see where you are spending your time. Think through ways you  can creatively surround yourself with people who need to hear the Gospel.

Let us know who’s in your “99.” We want to be praying for these people as you go out and live questionably around them.

Each day, live your life with your eyes wide open. When a Gospel opportunity presents itself because someone asks you why you are doing the things you do, take it! It might be as simple as inviting your neighbor to a weekend service or your Life Group or it may be sharing with them how Jesus has changed your life.
